Turkey vows action over jet downed in Syria
Turkey has vowed to take all necessary action required by international law, after Syria downed a Turkish reconnaissance aircraft.
The corresponding statement was made on Sunday by the country’s Foreign Ministry. “Turkey will take decisive action with regard to Syria’s aggressive actions against our aircraft, not equipped with weapons, and flying in international waters,” – says a Turkish Foreign Ministry statement.
The statement also noted that responsibility for the incident lies with Syria, which downed the jet without warning. The Turkish Foreign Ministry also states that Ankara demands convening a NATO Council, and has provided the UN Secretary-General with details of the incident.
