Turkish troop convoy heas towards Syrian border – VOR

Tuesday, June 26, 2012

A Turkish troop convoy has set out from Diyarbakir and is heading towards the Syrian border.
Earlier, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that the shooting down of a Turkish fighter jet by Syria had made Ankara change its approach and that it would now retaliate for any violation of the border by the Syrian side.

Syrian helicopters intruded into Turkish airspace on five occasions in recent months and no retaliation followed, he said. Turkey claims that its F-4 reconnaissance jet was flying in neutral skies when it was downed by Syrian troops. Damascus denies that, saying the plane crossed into Syrian territory.
