Pressure on Syria ‘unacceptable’ – Moscow, Beijing

Friday, June 29, 2012

Russia and China believe outside pressure on Syria or foreign military intervention in that crisis-stricken Middle East country could only make matters worse.
There have been official pronouncements to this effect after a Moscow meeting at which Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov discussed the matter with Chinese Ambassador Li Huei. They exchanged opinions on Syria ahead of a St Petersburg meeting due to take place tonight between Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his US counterpart Hillary Clinton.

On Saturday, the two Ministers will meet again in Geneva at the planned international ministerial conference on Syria.

Russia and China believe the Syrian crisis must be resolved by the Syrians through a political dialogue.
