Syria – Damascus the scene of heavy fighting
Damascus and its environs are the scene of the most violent clashes in 16 months between the military and the armed opposition. According to SANA news agency, terrorist groups have infiltrated one of the neighborhoods of the capital and are blowing up bombs there. Government forces “have engaged them in battle, and inflicted heavy losses,” says the bulletin.
Shots are echoing all over the city. Fighting in the east of Syria is growing increasingly serious. The army is shelling Jbeil district, where the rebels have taken refuge.
In Abu Kemal, bordering on Iraq, guards repulsed the attack of terrorists, local media report. TV channel Surya reports that militants conduct sniper fire on the Syrian border posts from the territory of Lebanon.
