Syria – President Assad accuses foreign powers of meddling
Laaska News Sept. 16, 2012
Syrian President Bashar Assad has blamed the unending violence in his country on foreign powers that continue to fund and arm Syrian terrorists.
He has also reaffirmed his commitment to dialogue with the Syrian opposition, provided the opposition side accepts an unconditional ceasefire.
Mr Assad spoke about this in Damascus Saturday after a meeting with international envoy Lakhdar Brahimi, their first since Mr Brahimi assumed his current job on August 31.
The envoy warned of serious regional and global consequences in the event the family of nations fails to douse the conflict in Syria.
