Typhoons trigger floods in China

Heavy rain from 2 typhoons has triggered flooding and mudslides in China’s eastern coastal regions and has left at least 7 people dead.

Shandong Province received accumulated rainfall of more than 200 millimeters this month. The provincial government says mudslides have left 6 people dead and 2 others missing. Read more…

Chinese and Russian naval forces began a joint military drill on Sunday in the Yellow Sea that’s scheduled to continue through Friday.

Senior officials from both navies attended an opening ceremony in Qingdao. The joint training includes a map exercise, anti-submarine operations and a rescue drill in the Yellow Sea off China’s eastern coastal province of Shandong. Read more…
