Muammar Gaddafi has denied rumors about his escape to Niger.

The ousted Libyan president is said to have had a phone talk with a Syrian TV channel, its spokesperson saying that Gaddafi`s call was not made from Libya.

Local media say many high-ranking Libyan officials have fled to Niger, and they do not rule out a possibility that Gaddafi might be one of them.

Qadhafi denies speculation that he’s fleeing Libya

Libya’s ousted leader Muammar al-Qadhafi has dismissed speculation that he is trying to flee the country and expressed determination to fight.

Qadhafi released an audio comment through a Syrian satellite television early on Thursday.

He dismissed a report that he was travelling in a convoy to Niger as a lie meant to deceive his supporters.

He added that his forces are ready to attack enemies in Tripoli and other cities.

But many of Qadhafi’s strongholds in Libya are surrounded by forces of the National Transitional Council, with negotiations for surrender underway.

Meanwhile, video footage of the Qadhafi family has been found in his seized compound in Tripoli.

The footage, apparently shot in 2005, shows the former leader babysitting his grandchild.

The United States says it believes Qadhafi is still in Libya.
