War in Libya:Sirte to be seized in 2 days – Jalil

2 days will be required to seize Sirte, says head of Libya’s National Transitional Council Mustafa Abdul Jalil, upon arrival in the city besieged by troops of the new Libyan authorities.

Jalil urged the rebels to treat the residents with respect and “do them no harm,” even if someone is caught in the act of supporting the ex-president.

Rebel detachments have been conducting an offensive on Sirte for several weeks, coming up against fierce resistance from Gaddafi loyalists. Supporters of the former regime are maintaining control of two areas on the northern outskirts. (TASS),VOR.
